Blessed
- Death: 09/02/1792
- Nationality (place of birth): France
James Friteyre-Durvé (1726-1792) was one of the Jesuits who were killed when the French Revolution turned into a rabid anti-Catholic persecution. Father Friteyre-Durvé (1726-1792) entered the Jesuits in 1742 and had taught at several schools by the time the Society was suppressed. He became a renowned preacher and gave a series of Lenten sermons at the royal court. Louis XVI granted him a pension and made him a canon at Saint-Denis. He resigned this post, and then later dressed himself as a street merchant so he could bring sacraments to people in Paris.
