Elias Herque du Roule (1741-1792) was one of the Jesuits who were killed when the French Revolution turned into a rabid anti-Catholic persecution. Father Herque du Roule was working as chaplain at a foundling home in Paris when he was arrested and taken to Saint-Firmin, where he was beheaded on Sept. 3.
