50 Years of Justice and Reconciliation – Michael Czerny SJ

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat, at the Curia of the Society of Jesus in Rome, we give the floor to the former secretaries. Each one tells us about what caught the attention of his team when he was leading this apostolic secretariat of the Society and the challenges he perceives for the social and ecological ministry today.

Michael Czerny headed the Secretariat for Social Justice and Ecology from 1992 to 2002. He is currently Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Vatican's Council for Integral Human Development. In May, Pope Francis appointed him as one of the two secretaries of the Special Synod of Bishops on the Pan-Amazon region, which will take place in October 2019 in Rome.
