Fr Daniel Dajani, an Albanian national, is one of the 38 martyrs of Albania persecuted by the communist regime between 1945 and 1973. On 5 November 2016, Fr. Dajani was beatified by Pope Francis along with two other Jesuits, Fr Giovanni Fausti and Br Gjon Pantalija.
Daniel Dajani was born in 1906. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1926, studied philosophy and theology and was ordained a priest in 1938. He pursued a teaching career in his own country, mainly in the city of Scutari. He was serving as rector of the Pontifical Seminary of Albania on 31 December 1945 when he and Fr. Giovannia Fausti were arrested on 31 December 1945 by a Communist militia.
