The Global Ignatian Advocacy Network (GIAN) launches its new digital platform
In an effort to strengthen global collaboration and advocacy across regions, the Global Ignatian Advocacy Network (GIAN) – an apostolic platform of collaboration animated and coordinated by the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat of the Society of Jesus (SJES) – has launched its new official website: giansj.org.
This launch marks the strategic integration of Ecojesuit.com (Integral Ecology) and JusticeinMining.org (Justice in Mining) – two of GIAN’s global initiatives – which will no longer publish independently. The aim is to build a single, dynamic digital presence dedicated to serving communities and advancing integral ecology.
The Secretariat’s website (www.sjesjesuits.global) will continue to serve as the institutional and pastoral platform for SJES, while the new GIAN website will be an operational hub for advocacy and resource sharing within the network, designed to communicate what GIAN is doing at the local, regional, and global levels – and how others can become involved.
The strategic purpose of the new online presence is to activate awareness on the ground, foster cross-sector collaboration, and break down information silos. Built around an umbrella architecture, the platform brings together GIAN’s four global thematic initiatives within a single timeline:
• Integral Ecology
• Justice in Mining
• Right to Education
• Forced Migration
Digital transition and archive preservation
To ensure continuity and preserve access to years of valuable research and publications, the Ecojesuit.com and JusticeinMining.org websites will remain online over the coming months as historical repositories, although they will no longer be updated. This will guarantee continued public access to the extensive archive of articles, data, and resources developed throughout the years. Meanwhile, Ecojesuit’s social media channels will remain fully active as spaces for community engagement.
GIAN’s broader digital presence will be coordinated through the official social media channels of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat in Rome. SJES expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the social centres, research networks, and international partners whose commitment has sustained these platforms over the years, reaffirming its dedication to continuing this shared journey through deeper global collaboration and stronger collective advocacy.
