Here is another overview in images of a visit of Father General, this time to Paraguay. Who has not heard of the “Reductions of Paraguay”? This experience of evangelization, inculturation, and protection of the culture and dignity of the Guaraní indigenous people in South America continues to inspire the Society of Jesus even today. The Fine Arts played an important role in the context ofReductions. They were also quite prominent during Father Sosa’s visit to Paraguay: music, song, dance, sculpture. All the same, the country now is facing significant social challenges and the Jesuits are promoting a pastoral ministry that accords a high priority to social justice.
