Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development – Jesuits at the Frontiers

Malawi is an African country that gets little attention. It is a predominantly agricultural country where farmers are finding life difficult as climatic fluctuations are on the increase and farming techniques are outdated.

It is in this context that the Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development (JCED) has become involved in addressing the interdependent issues of poverty, environment and social justice. A holistic approach to supporting farmers, inspired by Laudato si’; a programme that proposes sustainable ecological practices and leads to a better future for the next generations.

Watch the 8th episode of the “Jesuits at the Frontiers” series to find out more about Malawi and the Jesuit presence in this country.
