The Annual Meeting of the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES) gathered the six Conference Social Delegates, four Global Ignatian Advocacy Network (GIAN) Leaders, six Advisory Committee Members, and the four coordinators of the SJES Secretariat led by Fr. General's Secretary for Social Justice and Ecology, Fr. Xavier Jeyaraj SJ.

One activity of Fr General Arturo Sosa’s visit to the Province of Venezuela was his prayer meeting with young people. This took place in Caracas on Wednesday, 28 June. The meeting was organised by the Office of Youth and Vocations, supported by a group associated with a number of pastoral ministries.

Táchira is an area in Venezuela where, in the main, religious, simple and hard-working people live. On 26 June 2023, a memorable event took place in Loma del Tejar, the headquarters of the sixty year-old Catholic University of Táchira: it was the Jesuit Superior General’s Canonical Visitation to the university. The last such visitation occurred 25 years ago.

Throughout the world, men and women inspired by Ignatian spirituality are placing their talents and resources at the service of those in need, but rarely has a group developed the level of presence and commitment in a city as it has in Medellín, Colombia.

La Javeriana is the name of the Jesuit University in Bogotá (Colombia). Clearly, the institution is named after Saint Francis Xavier. To remind students of this, the university’s pastoral center is called the “Centro Pastoral San Francisco Javier”.
