Ecumenism and inter religious dialogue
Father General’s advisory group on ecumenism and inter religious dialogue will meet between 5th-8th of September in person with Father General. The international group consists of 12 Jesuit experts in their fields. As well as those specialising in ecumenism (Protestant, Orthodox, and Pentecostal communities), are those who draw from a wide specialist knowledge and experience of the Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist religions and cultures, there are those who work with the indigenous religions of Africa and Latin America.
The meeting will have two parts: The first part
will be devoted to the exploration of Synodality in other Churches. In addition
to specialist members of the advisory group, invited contributors are Rev. Dr.
Jamie Hawkey, Canon Theologian of Westminster Abbey, a Chaplain to Her Majesty
The Queen, and Chair of the Westminster Abbey Institute and Archbishop Khajag
Barsamian of the Armenian Church. The second part of the meeting is devoted to
an exploration of the connection between religion and nationalism. Fr. David
Nazar, Rector of the Pontifical Oriental Institute, will also participate in
this discussion.
