A school? Much more than a school: a learning community! – Jesuits at the Frontiers
In the far north of Thailand, on the border with Burma and Laos, young people from ethnic mountain communities have not had easy access to higher education. With the creation of the Xavier Learning Community, the Jesuits have launched a project that reaches out to them, opening doors to a better future. It is a campus where students take courses, of course, but also where they experience interculturality. They even grow the vegetables they eat!
It is a “frontier” project, on the borders of three countries no doubt, but above all, it is a post-secondary education project that enables young people to cross the frontiers of isolation and marginalization.
Watch this episode of the “Jesuits on the Frontiers” series, which unveils a project by the Jesuits of Thailand, supported by the Society of Jesus in many other parts of the world.
