The visit was scheduled on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the tragic death of Father Frans van der Lugt, in April 7, 2014 in Homs. The memory of this martyrdom during the war in Syria remains very vivid for so many people in this region, which has been beset by deadly tensions for years.
