COVID-19… and St. Aloysius Gonzaga

Jesuits are not the only ones who know the Jesuit saints! Luca Pirola met Anna Nyangoma, an Ugandan sister, at the altar of St. Aloysius Gonzaga in the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome. Sister Anna is part of an East African missionary congregation, the Evangelizing Sisters of Mary.

She introduces us to this Jesuit saint who died at the age of 23 while caring for victims of the plague. Remembering his commitment, we can think of all those who, nowadays, dedicate themselves to the service of the sick during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For St. Aloysius Gonzaga, when one does charitable work, nothing is lost.

St. Aloysius Gonzaga is the Patron saint of Jesuits in formation.
