Fr. Alfredo Infante, appointed new Provincial of the Province of Venezuela
Father General has appointed Fr. Alfredo Infante as the new Provincial of Venezuela. Father Infante is 59 years old, joined the Society of Jesus in 1985 and was ordained a priest in 1996. He studied theology at the ITER (Instituto de Teologia para Religiosos - in Venezuela) and obtained a master’s degree in spirituality from the same academic institution.
His Jesuit life is marked by a long list of apostolic commitments. To mention just a few among them, he was rector of the Pedro Arrupe Theologate from 1999 to 2005, director of JRS for Latin America and the Caribbean from 2005 to 2011, superior of the Ignacio Ellacuria Philosophate from 2011 to 2015 and, more recently, coordinator of the Human Rights Sector at Centro Gumilla. He has served three terms as Provincial Consultor.
He
will take office in January 2023.
