A new Provincial for Hungary: Fr. Attila András

Father General has appointed Fr. Attila András (47) as the next Provincial of the Province of Hungary. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1996 at the age of 19 after his secondary education studies. He studied philosophy in Germany, did his regency at a secondary and boarding school in Miskole. Before his theology studies at Heythrop College (UK), he spent two years learning Mandarin and Chinese culture in Taipei. He was ordained a priest in 2010.

He then introduced Mandarin studies at Miskole High School in cooperation with the Confucius Institute, a programme that is still running today. After his Third Year in Dublin, he took his final vows in 2015, in Budapest, together with Elemér Vizi who just happened to precede him as the Provincial. Since September 2019 he has been the Provincial Treasurer for the Province of Hungary.

He would begin his term of office from 25 February 2023.
