New Course Available: “The Deliberation of Our First Fathers”

The General Curia has recently released a new video course exploring one of the most pivotal moments in Jesuit history.

Join Fr José García de Castro, SJ, as he examines The Deliberation of Our First Fathers, the extraordinary discernment process of 1539 that gave birth to the Society of Jesus. This course offers deep insight into how the first companions, guided by the Holy Spirit, made foundational decisions that continue to shape Jesuit identity and mission today.

Understanding this deliberation process connects us to the very sources of our tradition – the communal discernment, apostolic freedom, and missionary spirit that animated Ignatius and his companions. Their method of proceeding remains remarkably relevant for today’s challenges.

This course joins our growing library of content on Jesuit sources, including the Spiritual Diary, the Spiritual Exercises, and Discernment in the History of the Society. All materials support the formation journey of Jesuits worldwide and respond to the call for greater connection with our foundational charism.
