New Provincial for the Province of Mexico

Fr Enrique Javier Mireles Bueno has been appointed by Father General Arturo Sosa as the new Provincial of the Mexican Province of the Society of Jesus.

Father Enrique, 49, hails from Monterrey, Nuevo León in Mexico. He entered the Society on 30 July 2000. He holds a degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), a master’s degree in philosophy from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO), a degree in theology, and an ecclesiastical degree in missiology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He was ordained a priest in 2011 and professed his Final Vows on 7 June 2024. He currently serves as the Superior of the Jesuit mission in Tarahumara and as the director of the Complejo Asistencial Clínica Santa Teresita (Santa Teresita Clinic Care Complex) in Mexico.

Fr Mireles Bueno will assume his new role as Provincial on 11 May 2026.
