Educate Magis | Global Survey Initiative
As the Society of Jesus prepares for the II Congress JESEDU-Montreal 2027, a global process of review, discernment, and foresight is now underway. Building on a journey that began with the first International Colloquium in Boston in 2012 and has continued through two cycles of global gatherings, this initiative seeks to evaluate how the shared vision for Jesuit education has been implemented across the worldwide network of Jesuit and companion schools. More than a review of past achievements, it is an opportunity to listen deeply, learn from experience, and discern together the future direction of Jesuit education in a rapidly changing world.
In this video message, Fr General Arturo Sosa, SJ, invites Province Education Delegates and school leaders throughout the JESEDU (Jesuit and companion) schools network to participate actively in this global process. Grounded in a synodal methodology of listening, participation, and communal discernment, the consultation will gather the experiences, challenges, and hopes of those engaged in the educational mission of the Society. Through surveys and interviews, participants will help assess the fruits of more than a decade of international collaboration while identifying the opportunities and challenges that will shape Jesuit education in the years ahead.
Fr Sosa emphasizes that this is not simply an administrative exercise but a moment of apostolic discernment for the entire educational network. The insights contributed by schools and Provinces across the world will help inform the conversations and decisions of the II Congress JESEDU-Montreal 2027, ensuring that Jesuit education remains faithful to its mission of faith, reconciliation, justice, and integral human formation. Looking to the future with hope, he encourages all members of the network to participate generously and honestly, trusting that the Holy Spirit continues to guide Jesuit education in service of young people and our world.
