Jesuit Global Network of Schools - JGNS

The Jesuit Global Network of Schools (JGNS) is the global network of the Jesuit and Companion Secondary and Pre-secondary Schools worldwide.

Today we count nearly 3,500 schools in the network, between Jesuit and companion schools, Fe y Alegría and the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). Together we educate about 2 million students, from all kinds of religious, cultural, social and language backgrounds in 5 continents and 80 countries.

Launched in 2021 by Fr General Arturo Sosa, the JGNS manifests the collective global identity of these schools and their local and regional networks. The JGNS commits to the mission of justice and reconciliation at the service of the Catholic Church as it expressed by the General Congregations of the Society of Jesus.

Our Mission:

To develop a global network that leverages the apostolic potential of the schools, as a universal body, at the service of the mission of justice and reconciliation with God, within Humanity and with Creation.

Our desire:

To promote the contemporary understanding of Jesuit education as expressed in the most important recent official documents.
For accomplishing this, the JGNS will focus its apostolic potential in the following actions:

a. Promoting the commitment of the schools as apostolic works to respond to the challenges of Jesuit Education, especially at the global level.
b. Promoting a collective global identity.
c. Strengthening collaboration among the schools and school networks of the Society’s secondary and pre-secondary institutions and between the various apostolates of the Society.
d. Promoting an ongoing discernment of the living tradition of Jesuit Secondary and Pre-secondary education:

The Characteristics of Jesuit Education (1986)
Ignatian Pedagogy: A Practical Approach (1993)
Jesuit Schools: A Living Tradition in the 21st Century - An Ongoing Exercise of Discernment (2019)
