New Provincial for North West Africa (ANW): Fr. John Kobina Ghansah
Father General has appointed Fr. John Kobina Ghansah, 59, as the new Provincial of the Province of North West Africa (ANW). John Ghansah joined the Society at the novitiate in Benin City, Nigeria, in 1984. He studied philosophy in the Democratic Republic of Congo, did his regency in Ghana and his initial theological studies at Hekima College, Nairobi, Kenya. He pursued his graduate studies in theology in Boston, USA. He was ordained a priest in 1996 in Tema, Ghana and did pastoral ministry for a few years. He returned to the United States to obtain a doctorate in moral theology from Weston School of Theology.
He has served in various ways in the Society: assistant Novice Master, parish priest, professor, assistant for formation in his Province, Novice Master and Rector of Hekima College. Since 2019, he has been the socius of the Provincial of the ANW. He has been elected as Procurator of his Province for the 71st Congregation of Procurators, which will take place in Loyola in May.
He
will take office on 29 June.
