Honoring the legacy of St Ignatius of Loyola

The feast of St Ignatius of Loyola falls at the end of July and it presents us with the special opportunity to celebrate the founder of the Society of Jesus, whose inspirational journey of conversion, spiritual awakening and contributions to the Church have left an indelible mark.

Saint Ignatius’s transformation began with a severe injury during the battle of Pamplona in 1521. During his long recovery, he experienced a deep conversion that came from reflecting on the life of Jesus and the Saints. His life highlights the transformative power of change which invites us to reflect on our own spiritual journeys and to seek even greater depth and purpose in our relationship with God and with others.

To mark this feast, we present to you a series of videos of Jesuits reflecting on the life of Saint Ignatius. The video project was originally created for the Ignatian Year (May 2021 – July 2022) during which the Jesuits marked the 500th anniversary of St Ignatius’s conversion. The videos offer a heartfelt tribute to the life of the saint, exploring the Spiritual Exercises and other important elements of his rich legacy. The videos are available in English, Spanish and French.
