Strengthening Global Collaboration amongst Jesuit Schools
Discernment, collaboration, and networking offer three important perspectives on our contemporary way of proceeding.
The Jesuit Global Network of Schools (JGNS) continues to take significant steps toward deeper collaboration and a shared mission. A testament to this commitment was the recent visits of Fr John Ravi, SJ, Secretary of the Jesuit Educational Association of South Asia (JEASA), and Fr Leonardus Winandoko, SJ, Secretary of the Jesuit Education Commission of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP-Education), to the offices of Educate Magis in Galway, Ireland.
Educate Magis isa work of the Society of Jesus under Fr General Arturo Sosa’s authority. As the Global Apostolic Online Community of Educators from the JGNS,it is dedicated to discerning how to become Contemporary Jesuit Educators by learning, teaching, and collaborating with fellow educators around the world.
These visits provided valuable opportunities to strengthen ties between Conferences networks and the Global Apostolic Online Community of Educate Magis, fostering dialogue and collaboration in pursuit of a more interconnected and mission-driven educational landscape.
Fr John Ravi’s visit underscored the importance of connecting the vast and diverse Jesuit educational institutions across South Asia with the broader global network. During his time in Galway, discussions focused on how digital tools, shared resources, and cross-regional engagement can support Jesuit and Companion schools in South Asia in their efforts to provide holistic and transformative education while addressing challenges such as accessibility, quality, and socioeconomic disparities. The exchange also reinforced the commitment to mutual learning and accompaniment, strengthening pathways for future collaboration between JEASA and Educate Magis.
Similarly, Fr Leonardus Winandoko’s visit highlighted the evolving and dynamic relationship between JCAP and Educate Magis. As Jesuit schools across the Asia-Pacific region navigate various social and educational challenges, this meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on how Educate Magis can serve as a bridge for shared learning and innovation. From exploring Ignatian pedagogy in diverse cultural contexts to enhancing digital collaboration, the conversations reaffirmed the essential role of global solidarity in Jesuit education.
These visits symbolize a growing commitment to global collaboration, reinforcing the idea that Jesuit education is not confined by geographical boundaries but is instead enriched by diverse perspectives and shared values. Educate Magis continues to play a pivotal role in this journey, discerning how best to support regional networks in their mission to educate for justice, reconciliation, and a hope-filled future.
As the Jesuit Global Network of Schools moves forward, these encounters remind us of the power of collaboration in advancing our global mission of reconciliation with God, within humanity, and with creation, and the need to continue walking and working together to better serve this mission.
