Fr Robert Reiser appointed Provincial of USA East Province
Father General Arturo Sosa has appointed Fr Robert E. Reiser as the next Provincial of the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus.
Born in 1964, Fr Reiser entered the Society in 1986 after graduating from Canisius College. Following his First Vows, his formation included philosophy studies at Fordham University, Regency at St. Peter’s Prep, and theology studies at Weston. He also earned a master’s degree in theology from Harvard Divinity School. He was ordained a priest in 1997.
Fr Reiser has served as director of vocation for the New York and Maryland Provinces, President of St. Peter’s Prep and McQuaid Jesuit High Schools. He has also worked as a Province Consultor for the New York Province and for the Northeast Province.
He currently serves as the secretary for secondary and pre-secondary education for the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, as well as executive director of the Jesuit Schools Network of North America (JSN).
Fr Reiser will assume his new role as Provincial on 31 July 2026.
