Jesuit Global Network of Schools at the Constellation of Educational Networks: Together for a Constellation of Hope
On 30 and 31 October, during the Jubilee of the Educational World, Pope Leo XIV relaunched the Global Compact on Education, first introduced by Pope Francis, giving it new momentum and depth. In his message, the Holy Father invited educators to embrace three new challenges, crucial for our times: to educate for interiority, to rehumanize digital technologies, and to promote a disarmed and disarming peace. These calls resonate deeply with the Jesuit tradition of forming persons committed to a faith that does justice, reconciliation, and care for our common home.
In this spirit, the Jesuit Global Network of Schools (JGNS) took part in the Constellation of the Educational Networks, a gathering that brought together diverse institutions of Catholic education from around the world. The Secretariat for Pre-Secondary and Secondary Education represented the JGNS with a stand designed to showcase the richness and global reach of Jesuit education. Visitors were welcomed by a large map of the JGNS, a roll-up banner describing “Our Global Dimension”, informative brochures from the Secretariat, and QR codes linking to the websites of the various networks that make up the JGNS. Together, these materials helped participants discover the breadth of collaboration and mission that unite almost 2,900 Jesuit and companion schools across the world.

Fr José Mesa, SJ, Secretary of Fr General for Pre-Secondary and Secondary Education, also offered a brief reflection on being a global network at the service of the mission, which opened a simple yet meaningful exchange with educators, religious, and lay collaborators present at the event.
The presence and collaboration of teachers, students, and volunteers from Istituto Massimo, Rome, and Fe y Alegría, Rome, were essential in creating a warm, dynamic, and welcoming space. Their joint work was a tangible witness to what it means to be a global network, rooted in local contexts yet connected by a shared educational mission.
Throughout the event, many visitors showed great interest in Educate Magis, the global apostolic online community that connects Jesuit educators worldwide. It was a joy and an honour to share this experience and the know-how developed over the years, as a service to the Church and to the educational world, walking together in a shared mission of hope and transformation.
Among those who joined the Jesuit presence at the Constellation were Fr Leonardus Winandoko, SJ, Secretary of the Jesuit Education Commission of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP-JEC), and Fr Daniel Villanueva, SJ, General Coordinator of Fe y Alegría. Their presence offered a global perspective on how Jesuit education continues to adapt and respond to local realities while remaining united in a common apostolic vision.
Beyond the formal moments, the two days were filled with encounters and conversations, often spontaneous, that reflected the beauty of communion in diversity: different languages, cultures, and experiences converging around a shared passion for education and faith. It was a reminder that collaboration is not only an organizational structure but a spiritual experience of companionship in mission.
In this Jubilee, the Jesuit Global Network of Schools reaffirmed its desire to collaborate, to learn, and to serve together, as a constellation of hope illuminating the world through education.
