Fr Arturo Sosa, SJ – the Superior General of the Society of Jesus – has officially convoked a Meeting of Major Superiors to be held at the Jesuit Curia in Rome in October 2025. The meeting will include every Major Superior of the worldwide Society of Jesus – totaling 78 Provincials, Presidents of Conferences, and Superiors of Regions. A complement of General Counselors, Secretaries and officials, and Fr General himself will bring the meeting total to 101 participants.

Their mission is as simple as it is comprehensive: “consider the state, the problems and the initiatives of the universal Society” (GC 34, Decree 23). As the Major Superiors from each Conference meet with each other, they will be bringing their reflections back to the entire group, and to Fr General, to participate in a group discernment that will alter the course of the Society of Jesus.
