New Provincial for the Province of United States West (UWE)
Father General appointed
Fr. Sean O. Carroll, SJ, 54 years old, as the next Superior Provincial of the
United States West Province. This Province was created in 2017 when the former
Provinces of Oregon and California were united. While Fr. Carroll’s work has
included both educational and parish ministry, he is best known for his
involvement with migrants in the Kino
Border Initiative, a work under the leadership of six religious
congregations on both sides of the US-Mexico border. Sean Carroll has been the
director for more than ten years. He will assume his duties as Provincial,
replacing Fr. Scott Santarosa, on 31 July 2021.
