Father General has appointed Fr. James Arjen Tete as the next Provincial of the Calcutta Province. Born in 1967, James Arjen Tete entered the Society of Jesus in 1987, was ordained a priest in 2003 and pronounced his Final Vows in 2018.

Today, Monday 28 August 2023, the Holy See announced the appointment of Antuan Ilgit SJ as Auxiliary Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Anatolia (Turkey).

On 31 July, feast of Saint Ignatius. Father General offered a “present” to the Society of Jesus and its entire apostolic body! This long-awaited document is usually referred to by its Latin title, De Statu Societatis. In English, this translates as The State of the Society.

Fr. Arturo Sosa, Superior General, has named Fr. Primitivo “Jun” Viray as the next President of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP). Fr. Viray will take over from Fr. Antonio Moreno who has served in the role since 2017.
